I started working out in 6th grade. I got a Total Gym as a Christmas present and instantly fell in love with exercise. I loved the way it made me feel not only physically, but also mentally. That was more than 20 years go.
I maintained an active lifestyle exercising and playing sports through high school. When I was 21 years old, I was in a severe automobile accident. The accident crushed my feet and left me wheelchair or bed bound for about 2 years. After many surgeries, I slowly rehabilitated myself and began working out again. When I got myself back on my feet, I decided I wanted to help other people better their health as well, and I became a personal trainer.
I have been helping people of all ages and abilities reach their exercise goals for 10 years now. I pride myself on being able to start at your current fitness level, whatever that may be, and help you improve it in time. I use a variety of methods in my training in my training based on your needs and goals, and I'm flexible enough in my approach to find what works best for you.
Helping people become the best version of themselves is my passion, and I would love to help you in your fitness journey!
Hi! I'm Jenn, and I'm an extroverted mom of two. My husband and I were high school sweethearts, and married a few short years after graduating. I have worked out at The Key since 2008. After attending group exercise classes for 4 years, I decided to get my indoor cycling certification in 2012. One short year later, I worked on my personal training certification. Over the past decade I have had the pleasure of working both one on one and in a group setting with lots of ages and fitness levels.
When I get ready to start a new journey, I like to share a little about me! So many people get intimidated coming into a fitness class and I don’t want people to see me as some fitness/health guru! I’m certainly not that! I’m just a person who has learned that through these classes, so many stressful situations cease within that hour! So many friendships are made and so many struggles are overcome! I want to help people and show them girl power is strong!
I have been an instructor since 2016. My Dance Fitness class is a SAFE PLACE. You may not know by looking at me that I have been through a lot of traumatic things in my life. I have experienced, deep loss, divorce, addiction, abuse, and several other types of trauma. Dancing like no one is watching, has proven to be a positive outlet in my life. I would love to share my passion for this and my full story with you. The Bible says in Proverbs 17:22 a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Laughter is a gift from God. Laughter is a great way to stay encouraged. There is a place for everyone in my classes and I would love to share this experience and have fun with you.
I have always enjoyed working out -no matter what that looked like- indoors, outdoors, alone or with others, hiking, biking, kayaking, lifting weights, stretching, etc... I love the physical and mental benefit you get from working out and staying active. Being a single mom for over 10 years, working out has always been an outlet for me and improved my mental health as well as my physical.
Several years ago I was in Nursing school at UTC and going through the program in hopes of becoming an RN. After several years of school, God completely shut that door. As hard as it was, I had to wait on His timing and the plans He had for me. In May of 2022, the owner of The Key came to me and asked if I would be interested in becoming a group fitness instructor. I was super excited for this opportunity and gave an unhesitatingly YES! I started teaching Total body strength and conditioning classes, HIIT classes, step classes etc. and absolutely loved it! I loved watching everyone enjoy working out and feeling better about themselves. I loved watching the girls become a “gym family”.
It is no secret some girls can be mean- I believe there’s a term “mean girls”- so my goal was to always uplift, encourage and help any women that I could! I wanted to be that one smiling face, compliment and encouraging word that these women needed!
Not long after teaching group fitness, I got the opportunity to start doing some one-on-one personal training. It is extremely rewarding to be a part of helping others reach their personal goals, feel better and more confident and improve their mental health as well! It was amazing to see how nursing school and the time I spent there, helped expand my knowledge as a personal trainer! I’m very passionate about helping others reach their goals, feel better physically and mentally, become stronger, and experience what their bodies are capable of with enough hard work and consistency. It is my goal to help you enjoy working out and achieve a happy and healthy well-balanced lifestyle.
My ultimate goal in life is to honor God in all I do and today that starts with helping YOU!
My life verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a FUTURE!”
I started lifting weights in middle school in order to get stronger for football and wrestling. From the moment that I started my exercise journey, I knew that I had found a lifelong passion. I wasn’t naturally physically gifted in any particular area. In fact, I was very unathletic and out of shape as a kid. The desire to better my athletic performance as a young man, led me on a lifelong pursuit to learn everything I could about exercise and physical fitness.
After my collegiate football career ended, that lifelong goal continued to play a major role and influence my various careers as a teacher, coach, and minister. In all of those roles, I have been blessed to be able to share my passion for strength and fitness with student athletes and co-workers. Today, I continued to fuel my competitive outlet through competitive powerlifting and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Being a personal trainer allows me to give to others what the pursuit of physical fitness has given to me, an opportunity to be the best version of myself. With my background and experience as an athlete and coach, I enjoy being able to work with student athletes in order to get them bigger, stronger, and faster, but I also love to train clients from all walks of life! I strive to accommodate my training to the unique needs of my clients in order for them to stay motivated and excited in the gym. I would be honored to have the opportunity to work with you and help you reach your fitness goals.
